An Early Christmas Gift

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

As much as I would have loved to have my family and old friends closer over the holiday season, I have to admit that we had a very pleasant day chatting with new friends followed by a lovely turkey dinner with all the trimmings, so I certainly can’t complain.

We also had a wonderful early Christmas gift that I would like to share with all of you. It actually on Monday, but with the tours, the webpage and the Christmas preparations I haven’t actually had a chance to write about it…. although I couldn’t resist posting a couple little videos on Facebook and Instagram.

Anyone who has seen those posts probably realizes what I am talking about….the DOLPHINS!!!

Yup, we were out on a tour with a lovely group of people, sailing along on a soft breeze when someone noticed a fin.

We don’t get dolphins as often as we get mantas, so its always exciting but this time it was something truly special. Not only did the dolphins decide to come over en masse to visit, they actually stayed with us for quite a while and in the end everyone but the captain forgot all about sailing and spent a good hour or so taking pictures and video as they swam and jumped around the boat.

We have had a pod of maybe ten in the past but we generally get more like 2 or 3 at a time.

This time there were so many, coming from all directions, that it was really hard to get an idea of the numbers at all. Aside from the friendly guys playing near the boat, there were some off in the distance entertaining us with huge leaps into the air.

Eventually they wandered away and we settle back to talk about the experience and to eat our snacks, then we turned around to head back to our snorkelling spot…and what do you know? they came BACK a second time!

I had gotten so many videos the first time that I spent the second visit sitting quietly, watching them.

It was such a cool experience.

I have been trying for a couple of days to get some of those videos uploaded to YouTube so that I could share them with you. However, since it looks like it could take a while longer, I decided to put the link to our YouTube Channel in this post instead so you can check back if need be and see if there is anything new and exciting.

Feel free to subscribe because any time I have a video clip for the blog it will be posted on the channel, and I hope that over the course of the season…we will have lots more of fun stuff to post!

In the meantime, I’m going to keep uploading.

All the best from my family to yours!

Pura Vida!
