All aboard for your all-inclusive Private Tour!
What makes a great sailing tour---- blue skies, a nice breeze, dolphins leaping? For sure that helps, but we can’t control all those factors. What we can control is the boat, the guide, and the guest list.
The weather and general conditions here are usually spectacular. But at Ashuma Sailing we know that the most important factor that can make or break a sailing tour is who is on the boat with you.
That’s why Ashuma charters are private. You control the ambiance and the guest list. You pick your music, your volume, or no music. You can choose to just sail for the whole time, or anchor and swim in a beautiful cove. Snorkel for hours, or minutes (conditions permitting) it’s up to you. Bring your own snacks and drinks or let us take care of the details. This tour is your tour.
Departure information
The tour starts in Playa Herradura , (Los Sueños Option, at the end of the paragraph) with your toes at the water’s edge in front of the El Pelicano Restaurant. Your guide will be on the boat, so you can call the captain or start waving your hands and the captain will then call a water taxi to pick you up.
The water taxi is run by a guy named Zapatilla. You need to be ready to get wet from your knees down to get in the taxi-boat. Please try to clean all the sand off your shoes before getting to Ashuma and then climb on board barefoot. Don’t put your sandy shoes in your bag, just leave them out in the water taxi and we’ll take care of them when you get to the boat.
***** If you are parking a car or wandering around on the beach you might be approached by people trying to sell you a tour or charge you to call the water taxi. Just say thanks but no thanks. The water taxi is included in the cost of your tour. If you are staying in Los Sueños just to go the oceans edge out past the pool. And follow the directions as written above.
This is a water taxi service, it is not private, there might be other people getting dropped off on other boats, and depending on luck there is sometimes a wait as the taxi might have just started a run with other people out to another boat.

“Panga” or water Taxi shuttle to and from the boat is included

Location
We are located in Playa Herradura, which is 5 miles north of Jaco.
The nearest airport is SJO in San José (about 2 hours away).
Directions:
From Jaco, travel on the main road (Costanera) heading north, about 3 miles. When you get to the only main intersection in Herradura you make a left. There is a bright yellow pedestrian walkover and a flashing yellow light, so it is hard to miss. There is also a shopping center on your left at the flashing yellow light with a rather large lighthouse in the corner of the parking lot. Travel the road about one mile and you will come to a dead end at Herradura Bay beach. (You will pass the entrance to Los Suenos on your right just before you arrive at the beach).
